The Department of Educational Psychology in MMUST houses four sections namely Educational Psychology itself, Guidance and Counseling, Special Needs Education and Early childhood Education. In educational psychology, the courses we offer assists students to understand human learning. Specifically, students are equipped with knowledge and skills that focus on learning processes; from both cognitive and behavioral perspectives; allows students to understand individual differences in intelligence; cognitive development, affect, motivation, self-regulation, and self-concept, as well as their role in learning. Students are also assisted in the enhancement of educational activities related to instructional design, classroom management, and assessment, which serve to facilitate learning processes in various educational settings across the lifespan. 

Guidance and Counseling courses empower learners with technics and theories used in counseling. In addition, students are exposed to practicums, field experience and peer counseling. It is hoped that knowledge and skills acquired helps them adjust in society; offer appropriate counseling in various education institutions; and help in drafting and implementing policies that addresses the psychosocial needs of the individuals in society.

Departmental courses offered in Special Needs Education prepares educators to interact with Learners with special Educational Needs in the school and society without difficulty. The students are provided with skills and knowledge to be accommodative, adapt the curriculum to suit learner’s unique needs in and out of school settings, advice and counsel professionals who do not have knowledge and experience with learners with special educational needs and appreciate diversity within educational settings and the wider society.

The Departments Bachelor of Education in early childhood education endeavors to empower different early childhood practitioners, teachers and caregivers with important skills, knowledge and attitudes in laying stable bedrocks upon which subsequent successful career and adulthood is anchored. We give quality pragmatic skills and hands on training experiences to teachers, probation officers, children officers, bankers handling children products and insurance officers selling children policies and other child right advocates. The Master of Education Programme in Early Childhood Education is also tailored to produce early childhood practitioners with specialization in community mobilization, policy issues, child development or child rights advocacy. Our desire is to incubate and hatch out great dreams in our children to realize vision 2030.
